Seven years ago, in 2010, I told Miguel that we needed to create another type of business.

​

 

Today, in 2017, I reinforce the need to create another source of income due to the economic situation of Puerto Rico. And I am mentioning this to all our clients for 2 years.

​

 

We love to travel and we wanted to create a new business that we could manage from anywhere in the world; from Machu Pichu or from a balcony in Thailand.

​

 

My professional life began at age 13 as my dad's secretary. At the age of 22, I “climbed” the category and became a Financial Planner in the Successful Money Management seminars. My job was to educate people about their finances while selling them insurance and investment products. For 8 years I worked with my dad until the day we got pregnant (yes, because Miguel was also considered pregnant) of our second baby, Nina.

When Nina is born, we decided to leave the Financial Planning business in order to establish a business from home and be able to spend more time with both children, Mikey and Nina. Thanks to the recommendation of my brother Javier, we decided to set up an accounting and retirement plan management practice; which we keep up to date. 19 years have passed.

We go back to 2010, when I mentioned to Miguel that the commercial future is on the Internet and we had to enter that world if we wanted to keep with comfortable income, not a millionaire, but enough to pay for the daily live, travel the world and save for after.

In 2015 we began exploring the alternative of a website designed for the school education market. I have always been a freak on the subject of education (I have my PhD but no degree) in both children and adults. After many songs and falls, we have our web pages www.dictadoescolar.com where the child practices his words of dictation and www.pre-escolar.com so that the little ones begin to experiment. These pages were released in March this year (2017) and for now we have focused on marketing. In a little over 3 months we have achieved 40,000 followers on Facebook.

We also have about 5,000 people who have tested the page and who will be our potential clients when the next school year begins; not counting the 3,000 users who enter our system every month.

​

A few weeks ago, seeking to improve marketing through Facebook for our school education pages, we came across an ad for a free half-hour talk to learn more about Internet marketing. We attended this talk and aroused enough curiosity to then attend a seminar from Friday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm at a cost of $ 497.

​

 

In that seminar we learned what it is to be an “affiliate marketer” that is nothing other than selling the products of another entity via the Internet. To our surprise it is something that has been on the market for some time, in fact Amazon.com offers it.

​

 

This leads to not having to deal with inventory, employees, physical space. To complete the perfect scenario, the company that was giving us the talk has created a complete system, from how to create the website, how to create ads, the products to offer, the method of payment, in short, a whole complete system. Remember that that is what I lived with my dad through the Successful Money Management seminars; That is why this business was so successful, it was a system in a relatively virgin field. When those seminars began, nobody knew about financial planning.

Quick we understood the opportunity and the message. And we begin to work affiliate marketing.

​

This past weekend I was at a convention in Las Vegas. Again, from Friday to Sunday from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. I learned more about the system, marketing, Internet, affiliation. I met people who have been in this new market for months or years and heard their stories of overcoming.

 

"Affiliate marketers" is a job that anyone who has an Internet connection and a computer can do; You do not need more. The rest will teach you and set up the same system.

We are sure, both Miguel and I, that this is the way out for many people.
